I'm getting new glasses soon, yay~!

For those that don't know, [info]mad_hatter__ stepped on my current glasses XD it was my fault as well though, they were beside the futon I was sleeping on at her place and she didn't see them so our combined silliness (well, mostly mine) caused my glasses to go crunch. Actually the break wasn't that bad, it snapped clean through the bridge of the frames and the lenses are still intact, so a few drops of superglue did the trick just fine, at least until my new glasses come through. I needed new ones anyway; my prescription has changed, now I'll be able to see perfectly again!

I went to Specsavers and got the buy-one-pair-get-one-free deal, which ended up costing me AU$299, but for two pairs that's not too bad, especially since one of them is a designer pair, this Red or Dead pair in white/silver. So different to my usual glasses, but I really like them 8D

The other pair are thick-ish plastic frames that are black on the front but the inside of them is ACID GREEN, and when I put them on I could see NEON GREEN in my peripheral vision. I'm kind of in love with neon colours so I bought them; I can enjoy them while other people see the black exterior 8DD

They'll be done next week and I'll take photos. Yay new glasses~

:3~
My Apple Bottoms arrived and they are beautiful. It was very hard not to openly spaz out about them in front of the other office girls. I'm going to wear them tomorrow on our 'casual Friday' because I'm so in love with them, ahh~ *flails* The Baby Phat wallet I bought is gorgeous too and I immediately transferred all my cash & cards over to it. My last wallet was a no-name brand I bought for $5 at a handbag sale years ago; by now the zip is broken and it's beginning to seriously fall apart, so it was about time I got a new one.

Got another shiny in the mail the other day, will take a photo tonight <3

I've been invited along to the lolita meet on Sunday by Annay but I'm not very sure I want to attend a lolita picnic. I'm still in two minds about it, but I really don't want to get dressed up for some reason :/ and tagging along in casuals will feel weird. Besides, it's that or make WHERE U AT signs with Hattie and take photos in the city for the [info]gdyb_project XD ummm... lolita picnic has some seriously stiff competition, even if some people who I wouldn't mind seeing are going to the picnic. I also wanna try seeing my dad this weekend. I've really been wanting to get out of the house as much as possible, waugh...

[info]chaoticumbrella , I seen you lurking about [info]omonatheydidnt and commenting on Big Bang videos X3 I can't believe I've got you so into this, but it makes me happy (plus more people need Big Bang in their lives)! The more people who know what I'm blabbering on about, the happier I'll be <3 I still can't believe that some random guy I met at the airport in Paris and I would have so much in common, hahah. It sucks about the timezones though because I'm never online when you are so we can't actually talk much.

[info]mazohyst_ruki , you know you can talk to me anytime, bb. For now I'll just say good luck with what you're doing, and hit me up on MSN if you ever need to :3 ilu.

ILU ALLLL~

WHY ARE FRIDAYS SO UNBELIEVABLY BORING HERE AT WORK THERE'S ONLY ONE OTHER GIRL IN THE OFFICE ASIDE FROM MYSELF AND WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO.

I have been killing time for the last hour and a half. Before that, I was killing time with the occasional bit of work to keep me amused. I have an hour and a half of this left and I think I am going to do die. I literally think I am going to die of boredom. I have no drawing stuff with me and I can't watch anything on the computer since that's too obvious to any of the stern office folks who disapprove of people not working.

The trailer for 'You're Beautiful' is out. I've only seen about the first minute of it (being at work, and all) but it really looks like it's going to be hilarious. It reminds me (and several others, it seems) of Hana Kimi, but since that show was pure, sparkly, colourful crack, I honestly don't caaaare XD. Also it has Lee Hongki from F.T Island as a British-Korean idol, and he looks reeeeally good X3 as long as they don't actually try to make him speak English I'm sure he'll be fine. On the other hand, it might be hilarious to see him try.

Then there's the polar opposite; Iris, the action-packed assassin drama, which is taking WAY TOO GODDAMN LONG TO REACH ITS RELEASE DATE. *flails* Like so many fans of Big Bang, I was drawn to this series because of T.O.P but the trailer looks so goooood argh T_T I hope I won't be disappointed by the wind-up, Hattie and I have been waaaaiting for this to come out. Because of the anticipation for both You're Beautiful and Iris, hopefully subbing teams will pick them up and release them quickly, I'm sure there'll be a demand for them.

Penny (from work) and I did a Dr. Jays order together. I bought an awesome pair of Apple Bottom sneakers and a Baby Phat wallet. It's about bloody time I got a new wallet anyway and this one reminds me of the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse collection which I am unbelievably in love with so I nabbed it. One day I'll actually own an item from that collection. One day. When I win copious amounts of money or something. This site, like so many others (I'm looking at you, YesAsia) are soooo bad for me and my bank account. I blame G-Dragon for my new love of spastically coloured sneakers though... I hated those kind of shoes about a year back! Then again, I've unconsciously started adopting his 'style' into my wardrobe, which is a bit scary.

I'm going to Torri's toniiiight with Hattie~ it's going to be all sorts of win, us three haven't had a sleepover together in like... forever. At least, it feels like it. There will be playing of video games and watching of Mr. Brain and Super Junior's Explorations of the Human Body. If you have not yet seen EotHB, then you're missing out and should go and do that RIGHT NOW. It's educational AND hilarious. Plus it's Super Junior... you honestly can't go wrong. After Torri's I'm going to mum's for the weekend (yay!) so that'll be good; I get to see her again, it's been too long. Plus it means I get out of the house.

Half an hour left... at least I killed time with this post. I am so catching a taxi home because it's so dark and wet outside, bleh.

This weekend's actually full, for a change. Saturday morning I'm getting my hair re-dyed and cut; I want bring in some pictures of Gummy and get it cut like hers, and if you don't think it'd suit me then now's your last chance to tell me otherwise I'm going to risk it XD I really like the style and want something other than the side part I've had for years and years.

After my haircut I want to head into the city and meet up with [info]aiturnizzle who I met on the interweebz and who lives in Craigieburn (LOL SMALL WORLD) and owns about a metric ton worth of Big Bang/Super Junior/DBSK/etc. merchandise. She's selling all her stuff so I'm essentially going shopping. Was this weekend alright for you, bb? We kinda didn't agree or disagree on that, we just ended up saying 'Saturdays are best'. We can go have lunch at Kimchi Tray maybe, and if we go this weekend can I invite [info]mad_hatter__ along too? Cuz she'll totally spend money with you as well XD

But yeah, whether that happens or not, Saturday night I'm off to Crown/Galactic circus for Jen's birthday party. I'm really not sure what the party entails aside from the fact we're starting at GC which means I'm going to end up spending a shitload of money on games, I'm sure. I'm going to try not too, though; I don't have all that much :/

Sunday I'm sure I'll be recovering. I doubt I'll be in bed early Saturday night XDD

Ho shi--lunch is over.

My YesAsia order arrived today~ G-Dragon's solo album, the limited press version of Big Bang's Japanese album, the BANG LED ring and a Big Bang logo phonestrap (hilarious, because I don't have a phone that I can put danglies on...). The Japanese album is so shiiiiny. Quite literally, even. Slightly disappointed with the Heartbreaker album after I found out the case was not a tin as I expected, but moulded plastic. It makes it feel a bit flimsy and cheap, but then for AU$15 I really can't complain--plus the booklet inside is really nice, which kind of makes up for it. It still looks impressive, anyway. I can't wait to go home and play with my ring XDD

The bonus DVD with the album has the videos for GaraGaraGo!! and My Heaven on it, both of which I've already seen a million times, but it also has an 'Album Making' clip which I'm curious about. So excited, whee~! I also finally hung up all the posters I've collected from all over the net, including a 2PM poster and a Big Bang poster I got before I even knew who Big Bang were. I feel like I'm in high school again, collecting memorabilia and posters of my favourite boy bands 8D;

Bowling on Friday turned out to be fun, by the way. I arrived late so I didn't join in the first game (and everyone was already drunk), but I joined in the second game and started off well with three strikes, which led me to victory over everyone in the end 8D (also the loudmouth I had issues with didn't end up coming, so it was a lot better than I expected! 8DD).

I meant to post a pic of me with this before, since they arrived on my desk at work only a few hours after I did this post. They fit PERFECTLY so I now know I'm a US Women's 8.5. Maybe 9 if that's all that's available. I'm pretty sure Annie will disown me for owning these shoes, but I guess I'll have to live with it. Go to the Dr. Jays website to see better pics of them. I love them X3

I was totally set to bid on those LV sneakers I want so bad; they were a US size 9 so even if they'd been a tad big I could have made it work. However, the price started to climb quickly about an hour before the end of the auction, and the damn things ended up selling for US$513.50, not including the $40 shipping they wanted >_< by the time it hit $400 I decided I was out of the game.

No LV sneakers for Ryo ;_;

Speaking of shoes, the Baby Phat sneakers I bought were shipped out last week, I hope they turn up this week. They would look wicked awesome with the Cyberdog getup I wore at Manifest. Plus I'll finally actually own a comfortable pair of sneakers (that don't cost $500). Here's hoping they fit though, because the site doesn't specify what kind of sizes they use, so I took a guess and figured US women's sizes. I grabbed a size 8.5. Let's see what happens. *fingers crossed*

I supposed I should do a proper Manifest post or something? I didn't take a single photo all weekend. No wait, I lie; I took a single photo for Annie. On her camera. I just wasn't motivated, I guess? I spent a lot of money, too; my tax had come through the NIGHT BEFORE Manifest, and although I full intended to have some cash left over, I totally didn't. I literally have less than $4 left in my bank account. My favourite part of going to Manifest is seeing people there who I know but never see outside of conventions. I do a little catching up (okay, a fair bit of catching up), I meet new friends (y hallo thar [info]dorkwind ) and I hang out with old favourites (there's too many to mention, I love all of you.

Cosplay used to be my favourite event to go and watch but I can't really be bothered with it anymore...? I don't know. Maybe I'd like it more if I were cosplaying (which will happen again!). I fretted about the friends who ran around like headless chooks trying to organise everything, I hope everyone appreciated all their hard work and realises that conventions don't just run themselves.

I'm on lunch at work at the moment. I'm going to spend the rest of my break catching up on internet stuff since our internet is still capped at home, so I'll see you guys later :D

UNF.

Whole figure is here, my favourite purchase of the con so far, and I HAVE spent a fair bit of money. She's about 10" tall and veeeery sexy. To be honest I've only seen the first couple of episodes of the Witchblade anime and didn't like it, but I did love the character designs, even if they were all WRONG.

Today I dressed up in all my Cyberdog gear, yesterday I was out in my TSU uniform. Tomorrow I'm taking it easy in casual clothes and taking Nikki along *nods*.

Our internet's capped for whatever stupid reason and won't let me sign into MSN, so sorry to the people I suddenly stopped talking to T_T it'll only let me do one thing at a time. Very. Slowly. Argh T_T

It's official, GD has really made me appreciate (and kind of love) street style. BRAND NAME street style. I don't know if I'll ever turn to it myself, but boy looks FIIINE when he's all pimped out in his Louis Vuitton and Chanel gear T__T

The shoes he wears are for sale on eBay.

OH GOD I WANT THEM WHY DO I WANT THEM

When we were watching the concert he was wearing those and Hattie and I were like 'PHWOAAAR KICK ASS SHOES GD' and now they're on eBay T__T but size 7 is slightly too small for me and I ain't paying that much for shoes unless I'm CERTAIN they fit.

*cries*

Here's an OMFGHUGE pic of all the brandish stuff G-Dragon wears. I think he's the most brand-whorish person I've ever seen outside of the US XDD my problem is... I'm LIKING a lot of what I see there. AM I JUST EASILY INFLUENCED?

Naturally it seemed a crazy-awesome idea to decorate the cupcakes Hattie had made like this:

So yeah. You can tell I totally ran out of space on my 'more bling than GD' cupcake. But I made it work! And they were hella tasty cupcakes, too. I saved T.O.P's until last.

02 July 2009 @ 05:14 pm

I had a great day today.

Currently I'm in Den Bosch, known on the map as Hertogenbosch. I'm staying with my aunt for a few days, we're doing some family reunion type things, but because she had to go to a workplace outing today, I was on my own. This was fine with me, my aunt Jos had given me all the keys to the house and to the lock of the bike in the shed, so I decided to ride down to the shopping area since there was supposed to be a comic store down there (lol).

I had a map with me, I'd marked the streets I intended on visiting, and then merrily jumped on my bike. And went in completely the wrong direction. When I next consulted my map, I realised I'd gone north about as much as I wanted to originally go south... so I had twice the distance to cover, hahah XD but it did take me on a bike path around a beautiful lake, so it wasn't a total loss :3

Once I did get to the shopping district though, I proceeded to get even more lost. You know how Melbourne's streets are all neatly parrallel to each other, with all the blocks as neat squares? Yeah, it's not like that here. Roads and sidewalks and bike paths cross over one another every which way, and what looked like a simple route became difficult everytime I took just one wrong turn. Still, like I said before, it's not like this was any kind of loss; I got to see a lot of things this way, and I also found a cinema. There was a viewing of Transformers 2 an hour and a half later, so I bought a ticket and then went to find the comic store.

I did find it, in the end! Spent a bit of time there, too. However, I think something was trying to tell me I should stop buying comic books, because after umm-ing and ahh-ing over different Dutch comics for some time, I had a little pile worth about EU$90, was gonna pay...

...and then the power in the entire shopping district shut down.

Due to the heat, something had blown in the powergrid. I did not have 90euros on me, I couldn't pay with credit card because there was no power and of course none of the ATMs were functioning either. I lamented this for a while, but when we found out the power would most likely stay out until around 5pm, we gave up. I had enough cash to buy just ONE book, and I chose Sky-Doll 3, since I'd picked up the first two volumes in Nijmegen before, but I wasn't happy. There was this AMAZING steampunk comic in a box, four parts, which I had wanted really badly, too. They also had THIS from Sky Doll which I jsdfhgjadlfhsdkjhf'd over like crazy, but goddammit it was 250 EUROS. 250. The figure itself was only about six inches tall, too D: and they also had the schoolgirl Witchblade statue for... 220, I think? So honestly D:

...maybe if I still have spending money by the end of this...

Sky-Doll really is gorgeous. It sucks that it's in Dutch because only I will be able to enjoy it :/

Anyway, the comic store owner then pointed out to me that with all the power out, I wouldn't be able to see my movie, either. I BAWWWed about this for a little while, then resigned myself to it and headed off on my bike again. At least the cinema pplz gave me my money back.

After that I cycled back home, and here I am. Also, my sunscreen exploded in my bag and I think my Pokemon Leaf Green is now no longer functioning because of it... fml. So, although the day had it's shitty bits, overall I had a ton of fun, I'm enjoying the warm (hot) weather, and I'm off to read my pretty new book.

Didn't do a great deal today; the tube strike made it kind of difficult to get around, so I ended up getting lost in Leicester Square and consequently veering off into Orbital Comics. This was a Very Bad Idea. Actually, going into any comic store is a VBI with me, but this one had Aspen/Top Cow posters I didn't have D:

Honestly, today was a lot of aimless wandering. We ended up at Euston and had a pub meal, met a nice off-duty policeman named Simon and Andy and I passed on Toy Soldier wisdom to him. We chatted to him for a fair while and only stopped when he had to head off, so that was nice :3 but honestly, we had no plan, so we just wandered and wandered...

...and ended up in Camden Town. Wtf.

Honestly, it was another VBI to wander around there, I should have just jumped on the tube and gone home. Instead, I bought another coat. *smacks self on wrist* I wandered a gorgeous corset stall too, but honestly, that was too much, waugh. We didn't stick around too long, but headed back to the hostel to plan events later in the week. Andy and I have now booked tickets for both the London Bridge Experience and the Afternoon Tease. Afternoon tea with a burlesque show? Yes please.

So they're booked in for Friday and Saturday. Sunday I've been invited for Sunday roast up at Andy's countryside area, and tomorrow I think I'll go do my bus tour and visit Madame Tussaud's. I think I'm set.

So this morning I rolled out of bed around 8am, and did my best to not wake up the other people in my hostel room. The night before, I'd stocked up on breakfasty things (THE MILK BAR AROUND THE CORNER SELLS V HELL YES) and so I had oatmeal to munch on in the kitchen, which I quite happily did. The majority of the hostel wasn't yet awake so there were very few people in the kitchen/lounge area.

After a little while on the internet, I headed out on the tube to Piccadilly Circus. Now, in regards to the tube; the trains come more frequently than Melbourne, but they're a lot smaller/have less seats as well, which means if you go during the rush hour, it can get pretty packed. Still, they're not bad. First place I went looking for was the British Information Centre so I could go and grab as many flyers as I could for ideas of places to go. Picked up a few that looked interesting :D including the London Bridge Experience (hell yes). I'll probably end up dragging Andy along to that.

I had found an antiques market by accident, and we hung around there for way longer than was healthy for our wallets. One stall sold absolutely gorgeous spy-glasses, compasses and sundials, all so totally steampunk. They're there all week though, so we didn't buy any on the spot, but we'll head back another day. Andy spent way too much on old military badges (including an authentic badge from nazi Germany which is SO cool), and as revenge for me taking him to the market, he took me to Camden.

Ahh, Camden.

The first thing I saw when I came out of the tube station was stalls selling rave clothing. I learned quickly enough that Camden was goth/raver/punk/cyber central when it came to London... and that practically ever stall/store had something I wanted to buy. The whole place was like a massive market; shops, shops, stalls, shops and more stalls, and we didn't even get to see all of it because we got there too late in the day and things had begun to close. We also went into the Cyberdog store which was pretty big and impressive, and I've told Andy that on the leg out of London, at the end of my trip, if I have any money left he can help me pick out a cyberpunk outfit. The store itself is like a club, with loud dance music and awesome lighting, can't wait to go back.

I bought an £88 gothic aristocrat coat

Honestly, I was out all day... my legs are killing me and I can't wait to crash. Tomorrow, there's a tube strike D: so getting around will be tough, but I'll manage somehow. There's also two Californians in my hostel room now, they're friendly, might chat with them a bit more :3

...was a lot of fun, thanks everyone for making it awesome. I don't even need to do an epic post of epicness because Hattie already did one. Because not everyone's part of her flist though, I'll still cover the weekend for y'all.

Dot points, also known as 'TL;DR':
  • Friday night Wolverine movie with friends
  • Galactic Circus until waaay too late
  • Get up Saturday morning waaay too early to drop stuff off at dad's
  • Cosplay shopping with Hattie
  • Free Comic Book Day!
  • Annie's birthday party
  • Tash came over and spent the night last night
  • Sunday spent watching things and generally doing nothing
Wolverine: Origins didn't disappoint me, but it didn't make me go 'OMGMUSTSEEAGAIN' either. I was looking forward to Emma Frost and she disappointed me immensely but otherwise... yeh. Action sequences were slick and there was little to no blood shown, which was great because it wasn't shocking, just genuinely awesome to watch and the creators of Watchmen should take some notes. VERY surprised to see Ryan Reynolds in there as Wade/Deadpool, as I'm used to seeing him in comedic roles and just kept flashing back to the movie 'Waiting...'. He was good though.

I was exhausted Saturday morning, because through my own stupidity got far too little sleep, but cosplay shopping with Hattie was so worth it.

LOOKIT MY SHINIES )

I am still firmly set in the belief that this cosplay is going to kill me somehow. Probably with frustration. I have never sewn spandex before but the ladies at GJ's were very nice and offered up advice as to what kind of needles to use, as well as giving us a 10% discount on the fabrics themselves (I'm sure they were just happy to be rid of them 8D). I have developed a love for that place and have only been there twice... they have SO much stuff no other fabric stores carry, most likely because they declare they specialise in costuming and dance fabrics. Makes sense. Hattie bought this absolutely beautiful shade of turquoise for Bucciarati *paws at it* and when we put the pink and turquoise next to each other, they looked great. We'll look great.

It also turned out to be Free Comic Book Day. We hurried into Comics'r'Us on Bourke St to grab whatever we could, and I got an Aspen special, a First Look of the Cyberforce/Hunter-Killer crossover and a prequel of the Broken Trinity series. I felt sorry for the guys behind the counter though; it was all kind of crazy and the store was packed (or maybe it just seemed that way because there were, uh... quite a lot of overweight comic fans >_>;). But yes, it was fun~ and we stopped in at the Asian DVD store across the road too, where I grabbed a box set of Mei-chan no Shitsuji!

Annie's party was a lot of fun; the Windsor is beautiful and the high tea we had was absolutely divine. Everyone had a complimentary glass of sparkling rosé, but since half the table didn't drink, I had a few more glasses than I should have had. Whoops. There were so many yummies, I just didn't know where to start... or finish. I almost ate myself sick...! As I'm sure half the table did XD After the high tea we all wandered off to meet Neil Creek, our friend and photographer, and he took many gorgeous shots (which I hope to see more of soon, Annie!). We kept ourselves warm and amused by acting completely ridiculous, as we do. I love all you guys <3 :D

Tash came over last night and stayed the night; it was great to catch up with her and have her as company again. If all goes well, she'll be staying with us a little while again soon, I hope so because I really enjoy having her in the house.

Hmm, I might do a little Flareon-cosplay sewing before bed.

Okay, so I went to book tickets for the ghost tour today… and they’re all sold out! ;_; I’d totally psyched myself up for it, too… waaahhh T___T but on the other hand, I guess I have $200 (I was going to pay for Cheryl’s too, for her birthday) that I can spend on something else. Like an artbook 8D; or maybe TWO artbooks. 8DDD They’re from the same seller, so it only makes sense, right…?

Here, have MORE JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure:

I have to remind myself constantly that Stand Users getting with their Stands would be like the Digi-destined getting with their Digimon. Eeeuuuwwww.

OM NOM NOM NOM. I do like the fact that any ‘partners’ in this series seem to be a little closer to one another than they should be, most recently some of the enemy Stand users. I think I’ve accidentally spoiled myself as to who the mysterious ‘Boss’ is that they’re hunting down in part 5 though… that makes me a little sad. I don’t like spoilers, they take away the suspense that makes me gasp.

I like part 5 because of the main characters; they’re all 15-20 years old and actually ACT like it. I’m a little over shonen stories in which the 16-17yo characters all act SO mature that it’s kind of like… well, it’s just not fun. The boys in JJBA5 horse around a lot, bully one another, get on each other’s nerves, support each other, play pranks on each other… it’s so fun to just see the way they interact, and Bucciarati and Abbacchio are the 20yo ‘parents’ of the group (Bucciarati would so be the mum 8DD).

Due to Araki himself poking fun at the gayness in his own comic (check out the next page, too), I… actually kind of ship it (Giorno and Mista, that is). Well, I’m not about to run off and write or draw pr0n, but they do always team up and it’s… well, it’s nice :3

OH YEH there’s two guys at work who know what JJBA is!! They know it because of the Playstation games, but they wanna give it a go! Whoo! I’m slowly spreading the MASCULINE GOODNESS. The more people who read this, the happier I will be.

I trawled through the [info]hail2jojo  community and found a sales post for figurines and doujinshi from way back in 2007 with an email address attached to it, and sent her a hopeful and slightly apologetic ‘I know I’m really late, but…’ email. She emailed me back! And she still has some stuff! And ‘some stuff’ includes a NEW IN THE BOX BRUNO BUCCIARATI & STICKY FINGERS FIGURE SET. She asked if I wanted pics of the stuff she was willing to part with and I replied with a yes-please *__* <3 <3

I need to be saving for my Euro-trip (8D) and technically I am, I’m still saving a minimum of $150 a week ($250 on the weeks I don’t go out) but JJBA makes me spend stupid amounts of money but I loooove it all mmmm~! It’s a shame I don’t work for Tamarket anymore because they bought be lovely things from Japan. It’s where I got my first artbook, my statue and all my trading figures X3 it’s all sooo lovely.

Ah! I’ve just realised how much I rambled again. It’s okay though, I’m sure at this point you guys aren’t even bothering reading anymore. Hands up if you got this far 8D

Okay… I’m, uh… I guess I’m going to go and do some work or something. Nothing really to do, but oh well, I’m sure I’ll be able to find something…
